Our story

In the bustling heart of Lima, Peru, the story of Unne begins with the vision and legacy of Mr. Javier and Mrs. Elsa, who founded Become in 1976. What started as a small workshop dedicated to creating high-quality garments soon flourished into a family-run business known for its commitment to sustainability and community. Today, their children, Javier and Mariana, carry this legacy forward with a fresh perspective and innovative spirit.

Unne was born from Become’s success and the desire to go further, reaching the end consumer with a promise of sustainability and lasting connections. Inspired by the significant attention their unique pieces received during an expo in New York, Unne emerged to embody the interconnectedness of our actions and decisions. At Unne, we design high-quality, conscious garments that are not only aesthetically pleasing and multifunctional but also contribute to the planet's sustainability. Each piece reflects our commitment to a better future and a continued connection with our roots and the people we serve.

Our Process

At Unne, our journey begins in the heart of Peru, where we cultivate and source the finest organic cotton from independent farmers. This hands-on approach ensures that every step, from farm to final product, upholds the highest standards of quality and care. Our skilled artisans blend traditional techniques with innovative designs to craft each garment.

We are committed to sustainability, using materials like organic cotton, pima cotton, and eco-friendly fibers, carefully chosen to protect our planet while providing exceptional comfort and durability. Our dedication is backed by certifications such as GOTS and Fair Trade, affirming our eco-friendly practices.

Every piece we create undergoes meticulous quality control before it reaches our distribution centers and ultimately our customers. Each garment from Unne reflects our respect for the earth and its people, embodying our commitment to quality, sustainability, and ethical production.

Empowering Communities

In cities like Ica and Lima, Peru, Unne has initiated a community project aimed at enhancing the quality of life for local residents. This project focuses on sustainable agricultural practices and economic development, empowering the community to thrive. By providing resources and training, we help farmers adopt organic farming methods, ensuring better yields and a healthier environment.

Unne also provides local communities with meaningful work opportunities by creating a logistics and operations system that allows women to work flexible hours. This innovative approach enables women to contribute to their families' income without traveling for hours to a factory. They can work from home, providing for their families without sacrificing precious time with their children.

A Heart for the Community

Since 2003, in collaboration with La Casa de la Providencia in Cajamarca, Peru, Unne has provided weekly breakfasts to 75 children from families with limited resources. Additionally, we support the Serapis School in the suburbs of Cajamarca by financing teachers, covering basic school costs, and constructing new classrooms. Our commitment is to continue supporting these students, offering them more opportunities for the future.
